Ipperwash

Ipperwash Beach is one of Ontario’s longest freshwater beaches, located on Lake Huron in Lambton Shores. Just an hour's drive (about 60 km) west of London, it is celebrated for its warm, shallow waters and soft white sand. It's a quieter alternative to Grand Bend, though there are no lifeguards on duty.

• Family-Friendly Water: The shallow depth creates ideal, safe conditions for young children to splash and swim.

• Nature & Trails: The region boasts coastal wetlands and the Ipperwash Dunes and Swales trail, which features a 5.5-km boardwalk through lush Carolinian forests.

• Sunsets: The west-facing orientation offers spectacular views as the sun goes down over Lake Huron. 

Logistics & Planning

• Parking & Access: Free parking is available in Ministry-owned lots along West Parkway Drive and East Parkway Drive. Access points are located at Army Camp Road, Ipperwash Road, and West Ipperwash Road.

• Facilities: The beach relies primarily on seasonal Ministry-operated facilities and portable washrooms, which can get crowded or messy during peak summer weekends. 

• Private Property Boundaries: Much of the beachfront property is privately owned. Visitors are asked to stay strictly within public access areas and to respect the local dunes.
